Nelson Kempf has been touring and recording since the mid-2000s, playing stages across the US and Europe including NPR's Tiny Desk and Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. His songwriting moves through experimental pop, jazz and folk, drawing comparisons to Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens. His 2020 record Family Dollar drew acclaim from major press (the Financial Times called it "Strikingly, exquisitely beautiful") and earned him a 2020 Individual Artist Award from the Rasmuson Foundation. He's currently based in Anchorage, Alaska where he is raising a family and shedding on records.
